(TO THK BPITOR QF ...THB. STANDARD.) Sir. — People are now continually leaving this, place on account of the 'hard time," They cannot pay the heavy, rents asked. Don't you think ifc wbnld show more sense if the landlords reduced tbe rents to a more reasonable figure while things are adverse, instead of having their houses empty and driving people aw&y. While.every one is suffering from want of qusiness, why should they ask the very high rents that only very prosperous times could afford.— l am, &c, Sept 24, 1883, X.V Z.
