The: resignation was accepted by his Excellency, who thereupon sent for Major Atkinson, and entrusted him With the duty of farming a new* Cabinet. Major Atkinson undertook the task, and will to-morrow submit the names of his proposed colleagues to his Excel* lenoy for approval. Mr Whitaker left for Auckland m the Hinemoa thiß mornjng. Sept.' 24. Major Atkinson has not. yet submitted the names of the new Ministry to the Governor.
