There ware some strikingly-effective window displays m the bquare on Saturday evening. * Specially noticeable was that of Messrs McDowell, which- really ! had a charming appearrance. . The, Bon Marche had also many admirer?, the outside reflecing-lights showinp clearly the varied assortment of good arranged with good effect inside. The Clothing Factory verandah was a centre of attraction throughout the evening, and a crowd of customers kept the shopmen busy till late hours. We. learn that Saturday was' the best day the establishment has had Bince it opened, the returns generally being more that anticipated. l lt would be seen that a welldressed window can draw a orowd, and attrract business as much m Palm era ton as anywhere else, the people evidently ; baiog not slow to appreciate and patronize where the value offered ia of undoubted superiosity.
