Subsidies to Libraries.
A. notification appears ; in~the Gazette that the sumof £6000 voted by Parliament for distribution to public libraries will be distributed on the 3 1st January next, and claims must be sent m to the Secretary for Education not, latter than' the 22nd day of the same month. The distribution will not be m proportion to the several iucomes of the libraries, but a nominal addition of £25" will be made to the amount of each; income; and the vote.of -£6000 wijl/be/divi.ded m prbpor- ' tionn to the amounts as thus augmented, but so that no institution shall receive more than £50, and that no payment shall be made m respect of income derived from endowments or grants from Borough or County Councils, or jof moneys received >for building purposes, and not simply for the library itself.
