Singular Accident.
, (By Telegraph, j (UNITED PRESB ASSOfJIATId^) ; Invercargill, September 20. To-day some children were playing at high' water near Puni creek, Clydestreet. Among them was a Httle girl, the daughter of Mr X 0. Wild, of tha London Hotel, m charge of a beby and p rumbulator . The ; vehicle got awiy from the girl, and ran over the baak info the rreek. The Rev. W. P. Fair., clough, Wesleyan clergyman, happened to pass and f>und a man tryiusf to fish out the child and perambulator wi'h a walking stick. Thinking more urgent means were required, Mr Fairolough stripped off his coat and jumped into the, creek, speedjly bringing f the concern ashore, at the expense of a thorough wetting.
