DAIRY FACTORIES.

(TO THE EDJTOR OF THE STAN'ARr.) Sir,^ — Allow me to oxpreag my satisfaction with! your able and full report of Mr Bowrou's lecture the other night. I certainly did erpect to have seen the hall crammed. When the circus was m Palmeraton, so to say, everybody could come, and, hnndpds of pounds were taken out of the Digtrict ; even so at the races, plenty of money can be found for the totalisator, and yet, when a question of vital importance to the district is raisod, the hall is ouly three»parts filled. It is especially to he regretted that none of the settlers' wives were -present, as the question is of special interest to them. The njght was unusually fine, so the late hour could ba no excuse for the compara* tively poor attendance. The proposed Company is open to erect factories any* where (besides the first one at Karere) where . the milk from not less than 200 cows can be guaranteed. Consequently there ia no excuse for the settlers j on Ttanaitikci, Stoney Creek and Fitzher* > bert roads not to take interest m it. Mr ( Bowrou has pljsnrly put the general ad» ■ vantages to the distr^ot of imviner such factories, and everyone who pretends to take the least interest m the advancement , of the Oroua County, should take a few shares. As I now write without fear of being suspected of selfish motives, I wish for the last time, moat emphatically to impress on the minds of everyone m the district, that if they do not support this local industry, they have a moral re* sponsibility for the depression, which is bound to remain, and perhaps increase if no such outlofc for the produce is established Therefore, tako shares ! If you cannot take 100, take 50 or 25 ; if not 25 take 10, and if not 30 take one.—? I am, &c J. H. Monbai).
