It is intended to take power m the Memoir randura of Association to enter upon the business' of freezing meat for export, or to amalgamate with any other Company, or to purchase any business established for that purpose, and to manufactui c artificial manures or other prcduots which may be con. sidered legitimate adjuicfe to the busiuess ; but for the present, at least, it is deemed prudent to rest satisfied with the profits of the businesses as thej stand, without embarking m more speculative ventures, and it is levident that ihe combination of the two establishments end^r one manajr'ement musi result m increased profits and largely diminished expenses. : The combined businesses show a net profit ef over 15 per cent, and it is confidently . expected that when* conducted under one head, this may be considerably exceeded. ; ; The success ; which has attended the Gear Meat Company emce its establishment as a public Company; shows conclusively that auch businesses are more systematically and j advantageously worked arid extended m ; this way than by private enterprise ; and it is for this reason that Messrs Barber, and Woods, Cyosbie and Company are willing to sell their respective business to a Company while still retaining a very large interest themselve ;and they have agreed to place j their serfK.es at the disposal ofthe Company for Buch time as the Dircsfcars may require, , and not to engage m any businesses m competition with this Company. 'The resources of the Wellington district, m the way o* sheep and cattle, are so large and increasing, and the demand for preserved meats m England and elsewhere so much m excess of the supply, Chat a business of this kind is capable of almost infinite extension, and presents to capitalists the opportunity of a safe and profitable investment, !
