Suicide.
(per united pbess association.) Nelson, September 8. The Colonist coi respondent at _otueke has wired the following message : " T. R brownsden, a; retired paymaster m ths British Navy, who. had not been seen since 11 o'clock last night, has jusc been found drowned ; at the bottom of the river, between the bridge and R. Staples', house. A note was found under his pillow this morning, expressing his intention of destroying himself, the supposed cause being that, an information for indecent exposure against him would be heard next-, Court. day. Quite a gloom* has been cast oyer the district on the particulars becoming known. T^e deceased was much respected. ■ -'-' Later, With reference to the suicide of Mr Brownsden, it appears that the infor* fnation fpr indecent exposure laid against tjjat gentleman, was so laid upon ridiculquaiy weak grounds, that there can be. littleLdQubC.b* would have, been honorably acquitted, but, ithe thing preyed on his rniod*.
