; The usual mobility meeting of the. Pal* • merston Fire Brigade was h»ld last evening at the Commercial Jilotel. There was a good attendance of members. , <•;•• , Captain Bentley occupied the chair. the Town Ulerk, as to the position of the Brigade, and learnt that it was the doty of* .the Council to take orer the Brigade arid 'appoint Fire Inspectors. The, Com* mittee had suggested as Fire Inspfcßjonj, the n&mes of Mr Linton, for Terrace End,, and Mr Snelson and Captain Bentley-for the'Sqaare. The Committee had f blbo asled the Municipal Council to drive a.; stand-pifJe, so as to see what water could be obtained iv that manner, for the extinction of fire. They had also obtained .estimates: of cost of plant, and had- concontracted with Mr Stratford to supply a hook audjaddet^apparatus for £66 16s, and with Mr Keralake for tunics at £1 9s 6d each.
