Serious Accident.
NEARLY CRUSHED TO DEATH. (BY TEIiEGBAPH.) (UNITED PRPSS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, August 31. A railway guard named Crawford bad a narrow escape from instantaneous death, while shunting at the Mercer Station. His head got jammed between a wagon and a piece of timber. He i was taken to the hospital, his head being badly cut.
