Late Cable Messages.
THE TONQUIN CAMPAIGN, THE KING TENDS HIS SXJB- , MISSION. SERIOUS RIOT. (by blbctric tblbobaph.— copybight.) (rkuxbr's telegrams.) Paris, August 27. The Tempts iv its issue of to-day publishes a telegram from its correspondent m Tonquin announcing that the King of Annam has submitted to the French force/ and offered the services of his troops m the event of further military operations m Tonquin being necessary. fhe King has also accepted terms offeree? by the French Commission which proceeded to Hue to negotiate • for a cessation of hostilities $ and agreed to pay the war indemnity demanded. The French troop's are meanwhile holding the posts which they receutly captured 'and which command the city, as security for the fulfilment o( the provision of the compact arrived at. They also recognise the French claim to protectorate over the country and will conform to the same. Much* ill-feeling has of late been manifested between the natives of Besaucon,a town m east of the country and the Italian workmen resident there, and the discord culminated to-day m a riot, m which a large number of workmen took part. The disturbance however, was suppressed by the police.
