NATIVE NEWS.
(by tklkgbaph.) (united pbess association ) OpunaCs. August 20. About 250 natives came trom Oeo this morning. After breakfasting with he ©punake natives they came along towards the VVaiau Bridge, where a ,j&rty of Armed Constabulary was stationed. A bar was placed across the I >ridgo, seeing wnioh from the hill the ' uatives turned back. Titokowaru was at their heau, and Hone Pihama was slbo present. Colonel Roberts, accompanied by Captains Morrison and Messenger, was < n the side of the bridge where the natives drew up, but none came forward to make any request. It is believed Colonel Roberts wa<> prepared to allow the natives to go forward, a i'sw at a time — one detachment as soon as the first returned. The natives demand the right to come and go when tuev like, and will apparently be satisfied with nothing less. It is report-ad here that 34 of Man huki's followers, who used to be at Parihaka till the dispersion, parsed White Ohifs on Friday last on their way to Parihaka.
