Warnings for. northerly gales and heavy rain within 12 hours have been sent to all places *outhol Napier and New Plymouth, and later at a 1 other places. Synopsis of last 24 hours,: —There was a further fall of the barometer at all. places north of Napier and New Plymouth until near midnight, and since then it has risen steadily. Rain has fallen heavily a t most of the Middle Island stations, but the weather has been 'fine everywhere northward of Napier and New Plymouth. R. A. Edwin.
