It says: — 'fThe growth ot scepticism, 1 fidelity i and atheism, is concomitant with' the increase of BuicioVs which shows utter despair of any hope of happiness o; % comfort in our' present state of existence, and ignorance of a future life. The records of the daily journals! present man.y cases of individuals who hink that life is not endurable, and who do not comprehend the enormity of self-murder. That there is an incalcalably greater amount of Enlightenment in the world at the present titna than* existed in past ages is not * disputed ;: and ic is a remarkable fact that, in that
