Cnange of Smuggling.
(U-HTB_> FBEBS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, August 9. Win. Barnes, fireman, and Thomas Baldie, cook of the steamer Tarawera, from Sydney, were noticed by Landing Waiters Parker and Clark going up the wharf with, suspicious looting parcels. The officei e 'overhauled. Baldie, who de dared that the package contained books. Whita so engaged Barnes rushed aboard the Tarawera, and threw a sack overboard J but it fell into a boat and was secured. Baldit-'s package of books turned out to contain 201 bof tobacco, and tbp sack found m the boat also contained 201 bof tobacco. Both were arreted by the water police.
