The Gaol Tragedy.
ADAMS' FQSERAL.
[Nelson Colonist-] A large number of persons attended the funeral of the late Warder Adams. Amongst those present were a detatchw tnent of constables m charge of Sergeant Nash, some of the gaol officials, several citizens, and the boys of St. Mary's Orphanage were m the rear of the procession, which was of considerable length. Rev. Father Malosv-y conducted the last solemn service for the dead both at <t. Mary's Church and at the grave. Wbi!<; m the Church the Rex. gentleman addressed a few appropria'e remarkß to those present, speaking of dflatb and its solemnities ; the uncertainty of life ; the necessity of being always prepared for death ; and the awful consequences of living a life of sin and crime . Of the deceased he said, the late Mr Adams had been an affec» donate husband, a fond and indulgent father, a mnch respected citizen, and a true and devoted servant, who had di d at his post of duty. Deceased's widow and little ones needed their practical aid and lovihg spmpathy, aad m conclusion he urged upon all to* pray for the iepose of the soul of the deceased, who had so suddenly and cruelly been hurried from time into eternity.
