An Old Identity.
[FosuJ The death is armonaccd of Mr j Nathaniel Sutherland, who arrived m Wellington m tb.9 barque Jane, m 1841. He was one of the original lani pur» chasers aider the New Z, qh\nd Company, and came with, the intention of settling on his land ' t but, owing to th ■ ; disturbed sta'e of the country, he remained m Wellington, where he followed his trade as printer. He was en. gaged on the N.Z. Colonist, and afterwards, m conueciion with Mr R. Stokes, on the N.Z. Spectator until its col laps- 1 . Of late years, deceased suffered greatly from rheumatism, which kept him very much at home, bub he was . always cheerful and contented. He seemed m his usual health until Monday last, when be caught cold, and, about 11 o'clock last night, quitely passed away, at his residence^ Pipi^ea,-6treet, at the age of $7 years. Hei leaves a widow ; and two. sons, who are settled m the Wangaehu district. Deceased was highly respected by all who * knew him for his kindly and obliging manner, and his honest and f>t«rlin? qualities.
