The supposed block of coal proves to have been 61b of blasting powder. Its presence, in the lofb is explained by the. fact that Hazell's son-in-law some time ago. was employed jon the Kaipara Kail way, and it is believed that, the powder becoming wet, he brought it home with the object of having it dried, and forgot all about its existence.
