The following farther extracts from par Home agent's letter may prove interesting to some of oar readers. He ) writes :— u Judged by the Standard I ! should say your district had a great future before it. lam sending you a list of two or three places, where I should adrifle you to file copies by each mail, say two copiea or so a week. I hare frequent enquiries here about the North Island, but we have no reliable information m a concise form to which I can obtain access. Please forward extra copies of your paper containing information about the iron and timber industry, which are now attracting much attention m England." The above extract will illustrate the benofioial influence exercised by a respectable well- ; conducted newspaper on the prospects of a district* and how people at a distance judge of a place by its local Press. We feel flattered at the favourable impression which our Jgent states the Manawatu Stahdabd has caused, and doubt not the effect on the district will eventually be both directly and indirectly advantageous.
