The agitation against the BalTation Armyjn Neuchatel is assamins formidable dimensions, and. the peace of the town is seriotisly threatened; The Salvationists, states a telegram from Geneva, are v stoned as they pass through the streets, and a few. nighj;s.'ago the windows of a house m whioh they ha<j assembled were broken.' At a public meeting held last week, resolutions ware passed denouncing the Army a? * nuisance, and calling on the authorities to expel foreign Salvationists from the canton. The conductors of two newspapers which have protested against v the intolerance and violence of a section of the population, have received threatening letters; and unless the local govern* ment takes prompt measures for the preservation of order, scenes as disgrace* ful as those which recently occurred at Oene?a areJikely to ensue.
