CORRESPONDENCE.

A SYMPATaimo EDITOR, (TO THE EDITOR OP THE STANDARD.) S IRj — \Hgbfc I ask through the columns of your popular journal, whether ther* is any redress from the writings and sayings of the clerical oditor of ycfir contemporary, generally known as " The Rag." « n Tuesda evening, this Christian gentleman (?) wa- denouncing my ' ankruptcy on the railway platform, and had the cheek to say that two of my creditors w<»re helpi ig me out with what to his pure mind I suppose wis fraudulent bankruptcy. He said he had a paper, and would use it to run any unfortunate bankrupt out of Palmerston. Why did he not attend the creditor^ meeting, and speak his mind theu ? I consider his action now unmanly, cowardly, and contemptible. He certainly will not run me out oi Palmerston, 1 would ask him has he ever heen "run out " of any place? £ was here b?f .re he came, and trust to bo hero aftpr he and hh scurrilous l ' rag " are forgotten. I would ask him, supposing he was called upon at a day's notice to c.sh down all his liabilities, a-.d were he served with a summons and a writ by his largest outside creditors, what would he do ? As to stopping', my credit here, he can't do it, thank God, -r I dare say he w mid try his best, and it would delight bis Ohri tian heart to see me or mine m want. I owe neither baker nor butcher a shilling, as I have been paying cash, where I could have oeen running up oils. Can ih sai it j editor say tbe same ? If my outside creditors ha£ given me a little time, 1 could have been carrying on my business still, and paid everybody. I must say for a man who once was a parson and reached charity, this editor's ireamien' ot those, m trouble does hmisei or b s profession* of Christianity little credit. — 1 am, 6V., Thomas Jokdan.
