Terawhiti Goldfield.
o [Wellington Paper.] Encouraging intelligence came m on Saturday, from the Caledonian and Empire ci»ime, Terawhiti. The Manager of the former reported to tbe Directors that the tunnel had como into a change of country consisting of blue slate intersected with quartz leaders resembling the country m the liolden Crown ground. The Manager of thf . Empire reported that the country at end of tha tunnel was very wet, a J^Targe quantity of water having been! tapped. As a mining rule this is indicative either of the near presence of a lode, or of a radical change of country - that may be expected to be metalliferous.
