From the Waugauui Herald we extract the following allusion to the financial depression which appears to be as keenly felt m Wanganui as m Palmerston just now. com tempo ary writes : — The place may be said to be just now m the t'-ough of the sea. The reaction of bad trade and bad times has set m, but it wiil give way to a period of prosperity as certain as the sun will rise to-mor-row. The price of fat stock will no: remain at present figures. The frozen mpat industty has been proved a success commercially, and with ordinary enterurtse this district will derive a large share of the profits. Within a fev> months the turn will have come, and i will not take much to equalise thr supply and demand. Wheu cattle have reached their former price, the Native lands m the interior will be leased and occupied, and enterprise will see its reward. The question may be asked, When will this come ? It is being hastened by every announcement of a successful sale of frozen meat m London. On the whole there is no reason for despondency. A little prudence, and preparation for taking advantage Of the turn of the tide, wi)l bring good •imes again to the community and to he colony.
