SPYING OUT THE LAND.
Tbe Fiji Times says : — The New Zealand steamer brought with her on her late trip a number of visitors, anxious to see for themselves what progress the colony is making, and to form an opinion from personal observations us to its future prospec s. Amongst those were Mr Reader Wood, formerly a member of the New Zealand Ministry, Mr Cargill, a leading Dunedin merchant, Mr Warrick Weston, the ln« sp~ctor-of the New Zealand Insurance Company, Mr Street, a gentleman prominent m business circles, Mr Anderson largely interested m pastora' pursuits, and a number of other gentle* m<m of New Zealand note. These visitors express themselves as being.very favourably impressed with the prospects of the colony, and as being surprised nt the amount of capital now m vested m prosecuting its industries. They have also expressed surprise of a different character at the form of government, n dor which the colony ia expected to orogrPSEi and declare thetnselvep adionißhod that Englishmen should be called upon to eubmiv to it.
