OBSTRUCTION TO THE KATIVE LA.ND COMPANY.

]_BY. TELEGRAPH. ( (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Gisborne, July 10. The Native Land Settlement Company have sent surveyors on to the Pakowhai Block, and the natives are very indignant and threaten violence. Pakowhai is one of the blocks which was originally handed over m trust to JRees and Wi Pere, who have refused to render any account of their dealings to the owners, but have sold the land for .the sum of £20,000. An action was taken last Saturday m the Supreme Court to compel < them to render such account, and they have obtained six weeks to plead. In the meantime the Company are endeavouring to survey the land, but the owners refuse to give up possession or allow the surveyors to work on the block.
