English railroads have paid, since 1876, over a million sterling m damages for personal injuries to passengers. la 1876, £287,000 were paid m this way. In order to abate the wild dog nuisance m Victoria, a bonus of £3 per skin is offered by Government. The transfusion of blood was successfully employed aiew weeks since m New York m restoring to consciousious a man who had been found m his room unconscious from inbaling illuminating gas. Two physicians being called, one of them suggested the trial of the fnfusion of Hooa. A coloured man attached to the hotel consented to furnish itie blood necessary for the operation, which was successfully performed six hours after the man had been fouud, during all of which time he had been perfectly unconscious.
