The English Consul who has been i consulted with regard to the monopoly ! which it is alleged was ceded by the i Khedive to Count de Lesseps for the construction of a canal through the Isthmus of Suez, was decided that the Count de Lesseps' claim is invalid, aud repudiates the idea of any monopoly having been granted. A syndicate of British ship-owners formed for the purpose of carrying out the projected English Suez Canal, has therefore decided to persist m the promotion of the scheme. Alexandbia, June 28.
