, [Wellington Paper. | It is with feelings of most sincere regret that we 'JrVcbrd. the. death-, of TVfr George Pixon, whose name and' kindly face must haye been familiar to all who have resided m Wellington for any length of time. Mr Dixpn left Weilington for auckland by tho steamer Eawea on the J 7th instant, being- then m very indifferent health. His friends adtised Mm to postpone his trip, but tie stated that he bad important business to attend to m connection with his branch business »s aerated-water mann» facturer, m Auckland, and that bis presence there was absolutely necessary. On his arrival at Auckland he apfears to have discovered that be had been put to considerable loss, bar, judging from a telegram received from him, he got everything into proper working order again/and then left on bis return trip, by the Taiaroa on the 22ad raatant. ' He was. apparently m good spirits when he went aboard and up to the time be left Gisborne, at which place he-went ashore to transact business, but after that he became somewhat strange m his behaviour, and while, at Napier Captain Hansby found it necessary to seek medical advice for him. Every care was taken of him, but on the voyage* down he eluded the stewards, and ..was lost overboard. Mr Dixon had a very large circle of relations and friends L m WeU -j lington, and bis kind, genial, and charitiable disposition had earned him therespecb of 6.11 who knew him.. He was Grand Master of the District Lodge of Oddfellowß at the time of his death: He leaves a widow and four young children to mourn his untimely and melancholy death, i i!; !
