A very curious document was pijoduced by tbe police at 'the 1 iiicjuest ton. the Newtown fire at Wellington, jit •was addressed to '• Mr Bordman^ Secretary South British, Wellington," the agpjampanying envelope) bearing the Wellington postmark of tbe 2nd instant, : and was as follows : — " Private.— l think X can give you an idear how the fire at Newton was ( <^UBed if you make" it wbrtn wile. Put' a notis m the Pqst^ wjust-Sbyinjr/ all right ii^bidt will ''give ihe; : 2OJg if .tbe party bnrned it down I" There was no signature to the dociiment. Mrs, Peoones, ( a,. witness exam-/--licfedißit^e'inquest, was asked by Chief Deceptive vßrownefif she )fcad seen lit before, as also was Mr Blandford, the • owner of the property.
