DISCO7ERY OF a GOLDFISLD.
(By Tb£,eorap3.; (united press association) Christchurch, June 25. Information was received to-iay by Mr E. Wicks, of the Mining Exchai-e that a payable goldiield has been discovered m Canterbury by threa prospectors. The wasii-dirt is saud, showing fiae gold very plainly, and minute garnets and "rubies. The locality will not be published till £500 is guaranteed to the discoverers, who state thai: the n'.jld is of considerable area, aud the sinking not more than lour feet. The discovery was iuade tour months ago, and the samples analysed by the Government analyst at Wellington show an average at between 2 6£ and "B4 dwts to the ton.
