Harris is said . to be ;an old soldier. Constable Gillespie always has the reputa* tion of being a smart -man, and be certainly, clears out vagrants and drunkards from Paimerston with astonishing rapidity ; bub Constable Looney has no doubt come to the conclusion that escorting so large' a proportion of the population of the Manawatu down to Wanganui: every night is growing rather monotonous. If matters go on m this rate, Paimerston will not fig are well m the next census. <:; -
