Another old Wellington settler has passed away by the death of Mrs James Mitchell at her residence, Alma^lane, off Tory»street. The deceased lady waa one of the pioneer settlers, having arrived m Wellington by the Blenheim m 1840, and waß one of the first to Bettle at Vorirun. The funeral, which took place yesterday, was attended by a large numbei of old | settlers. 1 The trade between Germany and Italy is growing so fast that the St. Gothard Railway is running extra trains. The increase is mostly m coal and iron. Smuggling is conducted by agaDg of Swiss and Italians, who, when arrested, pay their fines from a common fund. They are aided m their operations by trained [doge.
