le<ro that the Corporation of the City of London have resolved to hold an inquiry into the meat supply upon the same lines as that on fish abcut* two years ago. The question of the supplies from our colonies will be fully discussed. Meanwhile, it is satisfactory toy note that the shipments which; arrive here m good condition are more and more eouht after by the London butchers. The carcases of mutton by the Europa have met a ready" sale at about 7^d per 1b wholesale. The quality of the bulk of this consignment is excellent, the mutton -being thick-fleshed, small-boned, and of saleable weight. The public can now buy it from several butchers m London on its merits as frozen meat. If the qualify is maintained on. the level of that of the Europe's cargo, frozan .muttons will, soon form an important feature 0 of our "meat eujiply. Some fros^n carcasses of Australian lamb, ex Ohimtorazo have made B^d to 9d per lb wholesale. The arrival of the Lady Jocelyn is eagerly looked forward to. We understand that there are no fewer than 6000 carcasses of mutton and 150 carcass es of beef on board; and if the meat is at all on a par with previous , shipments from New Zealand, the Wellington Meat Export Company ought to net a considerable amount by \e consignment."
