The kisses'were fast and furious, causing the susceptible heart of the constable to. palpitate violenty. He crept closer, and caught the wotds uttered m., a soft .tremulous voice, "it wilL not be safe to come before 4 o/cloqk,: tfearJ'V ;; Tk,en. the male person took . one long passionate farewell kiss, wonded his; way to the nearest pub, emerged with, a bottle, "and sent it by the nand oiF a boy' to' the lady who was waiting underHhe verandah. By the flickeriring light of the gas-lamp the constable recognised m the gay Lothario the lineaments of a prominent preacher of morality and pillar of god* linesa. Such is life, dew boys.
