Railway Accident.
(.UNITED TRESS ASSOCIATION. ) . ; ' Auckland, May 19. An accident, happily unattended with any seriou3 consequences, happened to i the Kaipapa train shortly after passing Paeroa Station. In turning one of the peculiar bends for : which this line is famous, the gaurd'g van left the metals, .and was dragged m this state across the sleepers, for a distance of 200 yards. The jolting and bumping was so serioui that everything m the van became scattered, including the tail lamps, which were smashed, and John Foster of -. Waiuku was thrown out of the train. The guard, failing to attract the attention of the driver, and feeling that; the ran would soon roll down the embank* meat, saved himself by jumping off , ; and just as one of the pasbengers was pro* ceeding to the forepart of the train, succeededin signalling the engine-driver The train was at once stopped, and the car was finally, jerked back onto metals, the train proceeding without further mishap.
