' Many' evangelists have been Stimulated to activity by the example of Mr Booth, and the work of rescuing souls is being actively carried on by several distinguished amateurs. One lady has issued a report on the results of : her work. She hung illuminated texts m the taprooms of 500 pabhohouses. One notable conversion has convinced her of the efficacy 1 of her method, and the instance is so charming that it deserves record. '♦ An old soldier," says the good lady, <( told me that he went again and again to the publichouse m order that he might learn the text by heart." One would like ib know that old soldier. We wonder did he have a nob* bier every time he went to read the text; The story seems to us just a little too too, you know. , ?."... The Hereford Times of 24th February contains the following advertisement;'— "Ann Jones wants to sell her child' (a little girl); it is twelve months old,- shall be sold for £I lQs to any one who will be good to It. 'Address," Ann Jones, Westingington, Billfield, near Leominster. " It appears by the above that children are to be bought m Herefordshire for about the sarna prioe as mutton, viz., Is per lb.
