The Pahautanui WHISKEY STILL.
The three residents of Pahautanui who were mulcred m; heavy " penalties and costs at the Resident Magistrate's Court some months a»o, for illicit distillation at Pbrirua, were arrested last week by Mr Eb. Baker, Sheriff of the Supreme Gourfc, by : virture of warn rants issued under the hand of his Honour Tudge Richmond, 'the amounts due to the "Grown not having been paid. It will be recollected that at the conclusion of the -oases,' the accused gave security for the fines jand co3ts, and were allowed to return to their homes. Owing to some flaw m the documents by which the men were released, the authorities . found themselves unable to enforce payment, and havodeemad.it advisable, therefore, to re-arrest the accused. The men might have been seen walking about the town m company with two officers of the law.
