CORRESPONDENCE.

A CORRECTION.

(to the editor of the standard.) Sir, — A slight ir accuracy appears m my letter, m your issae of Saturday : — The inf»orr>ct sentence reads thus : f ' Why does th* conductor twist his limbs and features m such an extaordinary fashion when handling his baton." If you will refer to the original of my letter you will find you have left out some words, the o-nission or rather transposition of whjcb alters the intended meaning. What I wrote w-»s :— Why does thecoaductoi twist his limbs, when handling his baton, and distort his features when singing, m such an extraordinary fashion. Aa one of the j audience, I could not say whether ha "twisted his features" or not when handling his baton, as, of course. I could only see his back, and watch with intense amusement the swinging of his arms, and the jerking of his body, which I feared would bring about dislocation of the spine. If the features were twisted sympathetically it must h*ve been a painful sight for the singers. Perhaps they were reminded of the two travellers m the railway train. One was noticed by the other to be making fearful grimaces, ami writhing his body Apparently m terrible a?ony. His alarmed f< How-passenger ?ot the train stopped, and bent over with much concern to ask him how he. felt, and was he suffering great pain. The other indignantly replied, " Mini your own business, will' you. Can't I sing if I like ?"— I ana, &c, Harmony.
