Official Information.

Mr H. J. Lloyd, Secretary to the Manawatu Acclimatization Society, has courteously placed at our disposal a letter rec ived from the Under-Secretary, relative to the shooting of black swans, m which Mr Cooper thus writes :— " I am directed to inform you that black swans were removed from the Schedule to the Animals Protection Act by a Proclamation Mated the 10th' July, 1878, which.. was published m page 988 of the Gazette of that year. They can therefore be shot &t any season and by any person." .
