YESTERDAY'S MEETING.

Pres°nt, Crs Rocksbrow, (chairman) Gray, McLeanan, Linton, .. Had field, Bruce, Sanßon, McUeth, and Fry. A large amount of correspondence was read. The following resolutions were carried : — Proposed by Cr Sanson, seconded b« Cr Rockstrow, That the several ppecial rates as advertised to provide the necessary sinking 1 funds for the various works to be constructed un«ler Roads and Bridges Construction Act be now made, the came to be payable from and after May 2. ! Proposed by Or McLennan, seconded by Cr Sanson, That the petition of the settlers of Awnhuri be received and granted, that the sale yard there be declared, a public pound, and that ,Mr Samuels be appointed pound-keeper and that the Chairman take the necessary steps to give effect to this resolu - tion. Proposed by Cr Sanson, seconded by Cr lvfcLennan, That the resignation of Vfr H. J. Kirk, as Returning: n ffic«r tor Or- ua b^ accepted ; and that Mr G. Williams be appointed m his stead. Proposed by Cr Bruce, seconded by . Cr Linton, That the engineer be instructed to prepare the necessary plans and estimates for the alteration of the Karere Road, m accordanca with the Roads and Bridges Construction Act. Proposed by Cr Sanson, seconded by Cr McLennan, That the application of Mr Aitken for extension of time bo not granted, as it would cause serious inconvenience to the travelling public. Proposed by Or Sanson, seconded by Cr Bruce, That no conveyance be a 1 lowed to cross over the. Awahnri Bridge with a oad heavier than two tons, while said bridge is undergoing repairs. The Chairman to give the nei-es«arv notice. Proposed by Cr Pry, seconded by Cr I Linton, That this council is willing to agree to Messrs Warne and Board's terms to pay 10s lid per 100 feet of all timber to be Slivered, and that the Chairman be empowered to enter into a new contract m accordance with these terms. Proposed by Cr Sanson. secondpd by Cr Fry, That the Bye Laws relating to goats and pige running , at large be adopted, and steps taken to have them gazetted m accordance with la«v. Proposed by Cr Rockstrow, seconded by Cr Gray, That the Poxton Highway Districted, as gazetted, be now merged into the Manawatu County m accordance with tbe prayer of settlers m the said district, and also m terms of th© County Act, 1876, and County Act, Ameadment Act, 1882, and that the clerk be instructed to forward a copy of this resolution to the Colonial Secretary to be gazetted as required by the said acts. Proposed by Cr Gray, seconded by Cr Rockstrow, That the clerk be instructed to take delivery of all books any papers anj any ot'ier property of the Foxtoa Highway Board as soon as the merging be gazetted.
