HIGHWAY BOARD.
YESTERDAY'S MEETING.
Present — Messrs Skerman (chairman), Bngles, Edwards, Newcoinbe, and McEwen. Mr Bryant waited on the meeting, presenting a petition on behalf of settlers m Kairanga, re forming into a new ward. Proposed by Mr Newcbmbe", seconded by Mr McSwen, and carried— That the prayer of the petitioners be received. Mr Bryant also stated that there was a discrepancy m his tender accepted for.' Fitzherbert work. Proposed by Mr Engles, seconded by Mr Edwards, and carried— That the; tender of Mr King be accepted for the lump sum of £67. The following resolutions were carried :— Proposed by Mr Skerman, and seconded by Mr McEwen — That the prayer of the Kairanga ratepayers, re being constituted into a separate ward, be acceded to, and that the necessary steps be taken to define the boundaries of the new ward. t : Proposed by Mr MoEwen, and seconded by Mr Edwards— That Mr! Armstrong be instructed to prepare the: necessary plan of the new ward, ran* I dered necessary by the constituting of the Kairanga a separate ward, and other alterations m the Boundaries of ; Nos. land 2. Proposed by Mr Engfles, and seconded by Mr Newcombe — That Mr Armstrong be instructed to make the .necessary plans required for an application to the Government under the Roads and Bridges Construction Act, for funds to make a road commencing at Btallard's corner to opposite Sections 258 and 259, Fitzherbert. Proposed by IW'r Engles, and seconded by Mr McEwen— That Mr Batchelar bo permitted to erect arates, on hi 3 road line, provided that.he give the Board a written agreement to keep ..the road m thorough repair. / - it was resolved to ask the permission cf the Waste Lands Board to sanction the expenditure of the accrued sum of £93 6s 3d, m falling the bush and clearing road line from Section 1596 to 1588 inclusive, Kairanga Block. Tender accepted for Newcombe's Road, Fitzherbert, H. Stevens, £91 ils 6d. The Board then adjourned till the 23rd of May 1 . '
