At the Irish Convention m Philadelpia many delegates refrained from censuring the dynamite policy. The American Cabinet is discussing the necessity of taking measures to prevent persons making inflammatory speeches. Archbishop Croke, of Cashel, has been summoned to Rome to consult with the Pope m reference to the condition of affairs m Ireland. It is believed m official circles that the British Government will sanction the annexation of New Guinea by Queenss land. It is announced that Queensland loan will be placed on the market m the first week m May. April 27. The P. and O. s.s. Indus, outward bound to Australia, grounded m Barking Reach, on the Thames, daring a fog, bat it is expected that she will be float d off shortly. Lord Granviile has advised a deputation that waited upon him as to the nature of a scheme for doubling the facilities of traffic through the Suez Canal, about which the Government is at present consulting Lord Dufferin. At the Irish Convention now sitting m Philadelphia, the Dynamite faction is gaining confidence. ~ Daniel Egan is satisfied to refer the „ League's accounts to an Auditing Committee.
