A Cool Robbery.
The perpetrator of 'a robbery, which the Auckland Herald says occurred under peculiarly brutal circumstances, was somewhat inadequately puuished at the Police Court there ou" Saturday, by a sentence of a month's imprisonment, with hard labour. The prosecutor, William Cox, while returning from the Wynyard Pier to his home m Parnell the other night, took a short cut across the railway line. In doing so he un- ■ fortunately fell across the rails, aud broke .several ribs. The prisoner, Patrick Con.roy, came along with two companions, and was accosted by Mr Coa, . who requested assistancel He directed Con* roy to untie his neckcloth, and tie it round his ribs. Conroy said he must itake off Coa's coat to do soi istr Coa assenting, the prisoner Jook ofi the coat, and then divestipg himself of his own, put on that which he had taken off Mr Coa. He then coolly wished the suffering man good night, and walked off with his cera panion. When arrested by Constable McLellan the scoundrel was actually weaririaf the stolen coat.
