THE ANTI-REDMOND DEBATE. ROMAN CATHOLIC MUNIFICENOE. MYSTERIOUS DEATH OF A NEW ZEALANDER. [Per city of New York at Auckland.] (by telegraph) (united pbess association.) Sydney. . In the Assembly oh the 17.th instant Sir H. Farkes moved a resolution for an address to the Queen, disapproving the recent disloyal agitations m Ireland and this colony. CTpon this Mr Stuart moved the previous question, which was carried by 48 to 25. It was held that the motion was unnecessary. The succss ofMr Redmond had not yet been so great that he should be elevated to a pedestal. Redmond had under* mined the loyalty of no one, and he would go back a sadder and a wiser man. The debate on the question whether Mr Baker, late Minister of Mines, had been rightly expelled from the House, after occupying some time was adjourned. Archbishop Vaughan, wholis a passenger by the City of New York, has been . presented with a number of valedictory addresses and testimonials, amounting to about £3000, and the entire debt on St.. Mary's Cathedral has bee a paid off. Preparations are beinsf made for the jubilee next month for the introduction of Congregationalism into Australia. Good entries have been received for the Birthday Cup, numbering 65, and including all the best horses. Mr Redmond is experiencing some difficulty m obtaining halls for his- use m the country townships. He. continues to collect monies and remit them t<f Dublin. The weather hasjbeen fiae. Business is dull and the money market stagnant. All the men-of-war on the station are leaving for Fiji. Melbourne. The Education Commissioners' Prow gress, Report condemns political patronage, recommends the abolition of nij*ht schools, end condemns Major Smith's anti~flogging circular. Mr Service his telegraphed to the Agent-General to earnestly, support the course adopted by the Queensland Government as regards New Guinea. A movement has been started to present a testimonial to Sii B. -O?Loghlen. Phylloxera has, broken out m the Ararat district. Brisbane. An enquiry is proceeding m reference to the Sandgate Railway collision. Parliamenthas been further prorogued to the sth June. A -man named Henry Curley has died suddenly, having a wound on his -forehead. Deceased is said to have relations m Dunedin or Wellington. His brother is a railway engineer m New Zealand .
