Mr Bryce's Trip.
(BY TELEGRAPH.) (UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Auckland, April 21. Mr Bryce and party airived at Otorongata on Tuesday. A railway can be cheaply constructed to that point. Wi Peri and others met Mr Bryce as delegates from the To Kuiti meeting. They stated that the meeting had decided to petition Parliament to amend the law dealing with native lands. The natives did nor. seem clear about what they wanted, but the motive of the proposals is as follows :— The chiefs find they are losing influence as the lands are sold, and wish to prevent those willing to sell from so doing. They would have it that the land should be held m common, and the majority should have power to prevent iudividualisation of the title. Tawhiao, with 200 followers, has arrived at Cambridge. Mr Sheehan made a speech of welcome saying to the King that he had seen Europeans and natives living m harmony at Wan»anui and elsewhere, and recommending him to do likewise. Tawhiao made no reply. Later. Mr Bryce has arrived safely at Waitara after a successful trip. He was acorded a public demonstration there. He is now m Wanganui, and goes to Welling- 1 ton shortly.
