WRITTEN 1 TENDERS will be received at this office up to noon on Tuesday, 17th April, 18S3, for the 1 Supply and Delivery of 100,000 1 Sleepers, or for any smaller number not i less than 5,000, to be delivered to extent; 1 as follows, at the different places men--1 tioned below :— Waikari, 20,000 ; Christchurch, 10,000 ; Timaru, 10,000 ; Dunedin, 15,000 ; Kelsa, 10,000; Invercargill, 10,000 ; and alongside Rail--1 wap Line Riverton to Orepuki, 25,000. They are to be addressed to the Hon. the Minister for Public Works, Dnnedi". and marked " Tender for Sleepers, Middle Island Railways," on oatside of 1 envelope. Telegrphic tenders, similarly 1 addressed and marked, will be received if presented at Telegraph Office by noon of the same date, provided that written tenders are lodged at a District or Resident Engineer's Office by the sani9 hour. Specifications may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Aucklaad, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch, Dunedin, and Invercargill ; and at the Post Offices Palmerston North, Havelock, Tapanui, and Riverton. A SPECIAL \ieaeral Meeting of the JX member's cf the Manawatu Permanent Equitable Building and Investment Society is hereby convened for SATUiIDAY, the twenty-first day of April, 1883, at three o'clock p.m., at the Town Hall, Palmerston North, to pass the following resolutions for the purpose of altering, amending and rescinding the Bales of the said Socioty m the fol' owing manner, viz : — 1. That the words "or capital " be inserted between the word " investment " and the word " shares " m the ninth line of hule XVIII. 2. That the words "or m the case of capital shares the Board may advance for any term not exceeding one year, any sum not being more than at the rate of £6 13s 4d per share, at such rate of interest not being less than £7 per cent per annum as the Board may see fit : provided that advances to Members, under Tables B, C, and D, shall have the pieference," be in* sorted after the words "freehold : security " m the eleventh line of Rule XVIII. 3. That the words "provided that no advances be made upon capital shares" m the 21st line of Rule XVIII be struck out. 4. That the following Clause commencing from the words " Members to whom advances " on the 94th line of Rule XVIII, on page 13 of the said Rules, down to the words " m accordance with Rule XV " be struck out.
