The Ohau Twins.
: [Wellington Papers. J The twins lie sidebv»side on a couch, 1 and s*'QW markedly the tint of the race. The right baby is stronger than the left ;it is also bigger. The risjht one cries lustily, the left merely blinks uneasily. They lie m the same plane. If the mother takes one she must take the other. Though the junction is strong, she cannot take one up and lift the other hanging to her sister, because this hurts both. The twins belong to the gentior sax ; a fortunate thing, as they will not have to rough it bo muc^ m after life. One is bottle fed ; the little one m Nature's primitive fashion. On the whole these little dears are well behaved. They look fairly well. These nut-brown maids are far more interesting than the Siamese twins, and are quite as well worth viewing as the two-headed nightingale, the two sifters shown m London a few years back. Down to the hips they are two distinct children, then the arrangement becomes mixed. From the top. of the hips they are completely fused. Nature has welded two into one. The Siamese twi s were joined by a longish fleshy band from breast to breast ; they had nothing m common. The Ohau twins are distinct only to the small -of, the back. They possess two head", twouec'csjf >ur arras, two trunks to the- small' of the back, then "the twain become one flesh," they possews one middle and four legs. Of course as they are babies, we have no means of knowing: how they would use their fonr litfcle legs. We fancy that they will be slow at learning to crawl. In all probability their four little legs will get -ntang'ed and that will bother them a bit. Then, too, as to their early attempts at walking ; but m this it is likely that th.^y will get on wall ; for, of course, it is difficult for a baby to balance itself on two legs as it is for a tired, sleepy man te balance himself on a two-legged stool. These little children, however, when sat on their legs, will have four limbs, and be as steady as a four legged st-001.
