Thepast week's business has been exceedingly dull and, prices still unsatisfactory and m favor ot buyers. The engagements of 4th instant are reported as being satisfacfcoril ? provided for. Oats have some inquiry, and several lines of good feed f .mules have i been placed at 2s 51 to 2s 6& per bushel, Large quantities of batter are offering, but m business is reported arid prices are likely to be influenced by the report of the Melbourne raa-ket m the Australasian of 24th ultimo, aa follows :W< Potted butter— We have had a good supply forward and ? the market is not brisk; dealers hava apparently made up their minds onlj to purchase for immediate requirement. Good to prime dairj poUed lealised lOd to Is, medium to irood brought 7£d to 9|-1. inferior qualities lower.** Potatoes are coming forward, and Bales have'been effected at L 3 10s psr ton for best samples. Prime malting barley has good inquiry for export. Hops are having good business at 2s lOd to 3s for Nelson. Galvanised iron is unaltered ; we observe that the shipments to Wellington fom London for the four weeks ending immediately before the departure of the last mail was only 90 tons, as against 142 the previous four weeks : we do not, however, . hear ofany improvement m prices. Fencing wire sells slow!y as £13 10i, £14, and £14 103 respectively. Barb wire is m light supply, and quoted «b £52.
