The Still Case.

FURTHER ARHESTH.

' On Thursday evening, Mr Fl yger, of the firm of Malcolm, Flyger, *& Co., was arre*ted on a charge of alleged complicity m the recent illicit sti 1 discovery. A telegram whs also despatched to Wellington to ar*est Mr Malcolm, the other partner, on a similar charge. Flyger was under arrest till this mo-u---rns', when he was brought up, and the case remanded at the rpqivst of the police f«>r the production of further evidence. Yesterday afternoon the other two Pecks were arrested , as it is alleged that the whole three are implicated. These are the same parti us ; who went bail for Jessop and the other | Peck. It appears that on Thursday evening the Pt-oks accused a relative . named Barns of living the police the information that led to the seizure, the accusation leading to high words, and subsequently to blows, Barns bsing, he alleged, set upon by them both, and severely raaltrented. He then came to rown and g.ve certain information to the police, which led to the arrest of the other two Pecks. It is believed that other persons will yet be implicated, nnd extraordinary rumours were afloat last night' that sundry persons skid to be connected with the making or erection of the still htul been, or were to be, arrested. It appears very evident that a lar^e nutuber of people have been connected with the concern, and further Hifccoveiies are hourly expected to be made. It is said that capital was not wanting to ensure the success of the industry, though what promised to be a profitable undertaking 1 to the promoters and those interested, has resulted m sudden d'Bnsttr to all concerned. W. H. Flyger, with G, and 0. Peck, were bionght up this morning on a charge of breach of tbe Distillation Act, m being m possession of an illicit still. Mr Hankins appeared for the accused. The police applied for a remand for 8 days, which counsel opposed. Ultimata'j tho remand was granted, bail being allowed m accused's own recognizauces of £200 each, and two sureties of £I<JO m each case. Mr J. H. Hunkins> so^citor, and Mr James Linton, J.P., offered themselves as sureties on behaif of the Pecks, and were accepted, and the accused were released . Dnriuj» the aiternoon Mr B. Manson and Mr Oate bi'fame bond- men for Mr Flyger, who also was released. Barns will probably be detained, as he apprehends yiolence if abroad.
