To Country Readers.
We tave been asked recently to de* liver the Standard considerable distant ces off the main roads, for the convenipnce of one or perhaps two subscribers. This we cannot undertake to do. Our present daily delivery is very extensive and scattered over a large area cf country, and taxes cur staff of runners and horses to the utmost to accomplish. The rule we have laid down with regard to delivery on these more remote and often dangerous bye-roads, is that we will undertake to deliver m all cases where there is one guaranteed subscriber for each mile going an d coming. Thus, we will deliver six papers three miles one way. This is the most we can do, as the cost of distribution m these remote places is m excess of receipts, anrl only pays by the additional advertising support thatinvaiiab y follows theextensivvcirculationsuch as, the Standard now has all ever the district.
